Gloria
first learned extensions in Gary, Indiana, about 25 years ago.
Since 2001, she has been training and educating cosmetologists for
Hella's Hair and Euro-locs. This is the latest and safest hair
replacement extension system available.
Extensions
are the addition of hair or hair replacements for a multitude of
reasons. The most common reasons are to achieve longer, thicker,
wavier or straighter hair.
About
the Extensions:
The replacement hair may be artificial or human hair. Artificial
is pretty much a type of plastic, whereas, human hair is mostly
protein. Of course, the human hair is much more natural looking
and easier to work with. Human hair, hopefully 100% human hair,
can be Oriental or European, with cuticle or not. With the many
different Asian and European countries, hair can vary
considerably. Prices may range from $300 to $3000 or more.

Techniques:
There are many techniques for adding the new hair. These
include: braiding, sewing, tying, weaving, gluing, double
fusion and the latest: LOC-ins. Different techniques are more
receptive on the different types of hair the client already
has. For instance, black hair can hold most types of
extensions, whereas white hair allows many types of
extensions to slip out. The newest LOC-in extensions are
suitable for all types of hair. Of course, no matter what type
of extensions are used, if they are sloppy and put in
improperly with inferior products, they will cause all kinds
of problems after a couple weeks.
Maintenance:
Extensions may be worn for years. Maintenance needs to be done
on the average of one time a month or a complete redo about
every three months. Some techniques will require complete
takedown after some time. The best of the better high quality
human hair may be reused. When wearing extensions, you must be
particular about the products used on your hair, especially if
the new hair is to be reused. Matting is a major maintenance
problem with most extensions. The LOC-in extensions require
you to brush your scalp area to prevent matting while other
techniques cannot allow scalp area brushing.

LOC-ins
vs. Others:
The LOC-in technique is used extensively in film making
because it is the gentlest on the hair and easier to apply and
take down on all types of hair. It is very natural looking.
Hair coloring should not be a problem with extensions and the
finest quality hair can be custom ordered and blended. There
is no matting or bulk.
Gloria
Bell had been doing the Double Fusion extensions until
the LOC-in technique became available. Double Fusion is a
glue-in type. No matter how careful and neat they would be put
in, they were still damaging. Glue-in extensions are
damaging and now other names are being used to replace the
word glue. If the new hair is bonded to your hair with some
sort of chemical connection, IT IS GLUE, no matter what they
call it. Braiding and sewing can be painful and bulky.
Eurolocs,
the original technique, ('LOC-ins' is my dba) is an innovative
method that was created for the client who uses many chemical
processes such as perms, relaxers, colors and bleach. We
attach a copper tube to a little section of the client's hair
near the scalp and fill it with an extension of tiny strands
of custom blended European hair. The copper tube is closed
around the extension. The attachments are slightly smaller and
great detail is placed on every attachment. There is no
adhesive or heat used on this method. It is a more time
consuming process because each strand of the client's hair has
to be perfectly placed. Most damaged hair cannot handle other
extension methods. LOC-ins allows the damaged hair to grow out
beautifully.
The
Procedure:
Gloria has you come in for a free consultation. You will see
what the hair is like and how it is put in. The application is
discussed for your over all goal for wanting extensions
and how many strands will be needed. LOC-ins are priced by
each strand (sometimes 1/2 of what is being charged on the
strip, possibly by cosmetologists she has trained). If you
decide to have the LOC-ins applied, a deposit is required, and
the hair is ordered and usually received within two days. The
appointment is set up for the application. Any color
correction or hair shaping on your hair is done before
application. After application the hair is trimmed to blend
and you will be thrilled, excited, and amazed at how
great your hair looks. Gloria will also leave you with

beautiful.
